Our role is to encourage healthy lifestyles that improves health and wellbeing of local people at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. And we will involve our existing participants as well as new ones, older people, and adults with one or more long term condition. Supported by trusted staff, mentors and volunteers which is key to building trust.
Individuals who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, have a pre-diabetic diagnosis or who are living with type 2 diabetes.
The Peer Diabetes Healthy Living Mates project will provide:
Healthy eating sessions menu creating and sharing. Culturally sensitive
Technology support – know your laptop/ mobile phone. Like setting up new items of technology
including navigation self-help services, using Alexa and Smart medication dispensers.
Support to get involved and connecting in other local community activities.
An emphasis of combining connections, healthy cooking, wellbeing Activities.
Develop recipe sharing/exchanges from trusted sources.
Shared dining experiences at socials based on themed national dates. Independence Day, Diabetes week.
Invite and introduce likeminded people to the Peer Diabetes Healthy Living Mates experiences.
